Head Cook

Position Overview

The Cook is a key member of the Trout Food Service staff. The person in this position is generally responsible for food production of all kitchen meals, cleanup and special requests. The Cook is directly accountable to the Head Cook and Food Service Director and specifically responsible for the following:

Kitchen Duties

  • Aid in the preparation of meals, snacks, and cookouts.
  • Return food to designated place and store leftovers properly.
  • Clean as you go.
  • Sanitize equipment used.
  • Understand and practice First-in-First Out (FIFO) food rotation.
  • Be able to read and extend a recipe when needed to do so.
  • The Cook is not exempt from janitorial and other cleaning projects.

Health and Safety Regulations

  • Perform duties in a safe, clean, and sanitary manner.
  • Learn proper food handling and storing procedures.
  • Present a clean and neat personal appearance. Shirts with sleeves are required – no tank tops.
  • Properly cover and protect cuts and burns.
  • A hair net or cap must be worn as needed.
  • Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times in the kitchen.
  • Headphones are not allowed.
  • Wash hands frequently.

Disciple Team Training

  • Supervise and assign tasks for the Dteam staff members. (High school age volunteer staff).
  • Find creative ways to interact, lead and work side-by-side with Dteam staff.
  • Approach Dteam staff training as a personal, one-on-one ministry

Miscellaneous

  • Be available to serve as a cabin friend as needed.
  • Attend and participate in Ministry Team Events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director, Associate Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Director of Programming, Program Apostleship Staff and Summer Program Events Staff.
