Position Overview

Lifeguards work under the direction of the Waterfront Coordinator. They enforce the standard operating procedures of the waterfront areas including the swimming beach, shallow and deep end activities, boat docks, and motorized boating activities. They ensure safety by performing rescues, buddy checks, and keeping the waterfront areas cleaned and organized.

Who You Are:

  • A committed Christ-follower who displays a commitment and attitude of reflecting Jesus
  • Athletically inclined and maintain a level of fitness required to pass lifeguard skills assessments and perform rescues of campers, volunteers, and staff
  • Committed to stay until the job is "done" versus "clocking out" at a specific time
  • Fun-loving and 'grounded' in your faith
  • Love working in a creative, ever-changing, and collaborative working environment
  • Currently certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard, or able to pass a written and performance skills test during staff training

What You'll Do:

  • Attend Staff Training (Begins late May)
  • Attend daily and weekly departmental meetings
  • Prepare the waterfront for summer activities and events during staff training
  • Perform "buddy checks" ensuring all waterfront campers are accounted for
  • Clean and maintain waterfront equipment including docks, buoys, swim lines, inflatables, life jackets, paddles, and boats
  • Share your testimony in Jesus with campers and staff
  • Trained to drive camp wagons, ski boats, and pontoon boats as needed
  • Assist in program activities including serving as a cabin buddy, ministry teams, and camper entrance and exit day assignments

  • You're a seasoned competitive swimmer
  • Your summer is measured by the hours spent on the lake
  • If you were a superhero, you'd be Aquaman or Aquawoman
  • You are a former Trout camper or staff member
