Wrangler

Position Overview

The wrangler works under the direction of the Horsemanship Coordinator & full-time Program Directors. They enforce the standard operating procedures of the corral and petting zoo areas during scheduled activity times such as skills classes, trail rides, & cabin activities times. They perform minor repairs, actively feed, clean, water, and care for animals, and maintain equipment.

Who You Are:

  • A committed Christ-Follower who displays a commitment and attitude of reflecting Jesus
  • Athletically inclined and maintain a level of fitness required to pass horsmanship skills
  • Committed to stay until the job is "done" versus "clocking out" at a specific time
  • Fun-loving and 'grounded' in your faith
  • Love working in a creative, ever-changing, and collaborative working environment
  • Have spent your entire life around horses

What You'll Do:

  • Attend Staff Training (Begins late May)
  • Attend daily and weekly departmental meetings
  • Feed and Water 16-20 horses daily and up to 15 other petting zoo animals (kittens, bunnies, alpacas, goats, pigs, etc.)
  • Encourage and equip campers and staff on how to safely engage our animals.
  • Daily clean and maintain the corral including the removal of animal waste
  • Teach horse riding skills based on Trout's established horsemanship curriculum
  • Share your testimony in Jesus with campers and staff
  • Assist in program activities including serving as a cabin buddy, & ministry teams, camper entrance and exit day assignments

For Bonus Points:

  • You're a seasoned rider, having spent your entire life around animals / riding horses
  • Your best friend has four legs
  • You have aspirations of being a veterinarian
  • You have farm-hand experience

Starting Pay Is $350 A Week!
